A lively, fun and energetic couple, Jacques and Janette are a true team in every sense of the word. Recently engaged in their native South Africa, this dynamic couple is at home on the water.
Having gained experience along both coasts of Africa's tip, Jacques and Janette have brought their contagious energy and vibrant personalities to the British Virgin Islands, where they will share with you all these picturesque islands have to offer.
Having started sailing at a young age, Captain Jacques is entirely at home on the water, with a passion for large and small craft alike. Trading a promising career as a National Rugby referee, Jacques gained his Yacht master qualification and instead chose a life on the exquisite playing fields of the BVI.
The Voyage 580 Secret Oasis is his forte, and Jacques loves nothing more than sharing this knowledge with his guests. This love of teaching extends to water skiing and wake-boarding.
Janette is your fun loving chef and hostess aboard Secret Oasis. Exploring Caribbean islands while sharing her passion for the culinary arts is her passion.

We loved the crew!!! They couldn't have been more accommodating. Jacques put together an itinerary that suited us perfectly and then remained aware of what was going on and made changes accordingly.
He was fun and fun loving while making sure we were all very safe. Every evening when we moored, he would check with all of us to make sure we were happy with the mooring ball. He made sure we moored where we would get good cross breezes yet not be in choppy water.
Janette put together a meal plan that suited everyone and everything was executed beautifully. She made sure we were all taken care of but never made us feel like she was hovering over us. It was the perfect balance. They participated with us at our request and everyone on the boat now considers them personal friends.
Secret Oasis is a wonderful boat. It was clean, clean, clean... made even more so every day by Jacques and Janette as they cleaned up after us. The beds were comfortable, as were the heads and showers. And everything on this boat has rounded edges, so we didn't get bruised up (we've left every other boat we've ever been on with numerous bumps and bruises).
The food was amazing. Janette is creative and really, really cares that everyone likes what they are having.
The itinerary in the BVI was fabulous and Jacques worked to have those sails up as much as possible, which we all loved!!!
I was very happy with Sailing Directions' service. We will definitely use your services again. I don't plan to sail with anyone other than Jacques and Janette for as long as they are sailing the BVI!
